The only departure the comic takes from reality is that the office worker got up to get some tortillas, and opened a door to the back - where there's a flipping tortilla factory going full tilt which was impossible to hear until that door opened. There's no way to know this place made tortillas, except for the sign outside the door, and even that is very non-descript.
I just need to underline how bizarre this was: Imagine walking into a workplace that looks like it could be the set of Mad Men, and, if you ask the right questions, they'll sell you freshly made tortillas that are better than any you buy at the store.
If you ever listen to Patton Oswalt's comedy, you might understand why I feel like I was inside one of his stories.
